Guidelines
We've set up a system that we feel best supports students as a learners as they work at home.
Students will:
- Follow a homeroom distance learning schedule.
- Participate in live, recorded, and/or guided, independent learning each day (varies by grade level).
- Attend lessons by following the assignments and links laid out on the homeroom schedule each day.
Parents will:
- Support children in setting up a learning space with necessary devices and materials.
- Help children navigate their daily schedule.
- Monitor student activity on devices, especially when not in a live session with the teacher.
Attendance
Students are required to attend school, even at a distance. Students will participate in lessons through videoconferencing apps such as Google Meet or Zoom and by completing assignments in Google Classroom.
While we are not requiring St. Timothy’s uniforms for distance learning, we do require students to dress appropriately. Please help your child to attend classes from a desk or table in a quiet area whenever possible.
Classes
Live lessons and group meetings will take place through Google Meet or Zoom. To join a session, just click on the link on the General Information tab in class's Google Classroom page. For classes using Google Meet, the meeting code is the teacher's last name.
In addition to live lessons, students may also be assigned videos to watch and independent assignments to complete.
Assignments and Grading
Some assignments will be completed during live lessons. There may also be asynchronous homework assigned.
Teachers will continue to conduct both formal and informal assessments with students to ensure appropriate growth and retention of skills. The assessment format will vary by grade level. The assessment of some skills will occur during scheduled one-on-one meetings with the teacher and student. In some grade levels, there will also be opportunities for students to take online assessments or submit work to teachers for feedback.
As always, students are expected to adhere to the Honor Code.
